The Chalybeate Spring at The Pantiles in Tunbridge Wells reopened for the Coronation weekend, following rejuvenation and refurbishment by Samuel Danby. Samuel has been working closely with Targetfollow, as landlord, and Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, who formerly operated the Spring.

The Spring was originally discovered by Lord North at the beginning of the 17th Century, who felt rejuvenated by the iron-rich water and sent samples to his London physicians who confirmed the mineral content was exceptionally high. It was rather apt that the grand opening should coincide with the screening of the Coronation at The Pantiles given, over the centuries, that many Royals have partaken of the water from the Chalybeate Spring which led to the Town being awarded the prestigious ‘Royal’ title in 1909 to commemorate the long-standing Royal connection.

The famous water continues to flow today and, following a UV filtration and rigorous testing process, is stored, and bottled at source for serving and sale to the public under the brand Royal TW Spring Water along with a QR code to allow visitors to go on an historical tour and learn about Tunbridge Wells, the Chalybeate Spring, the water, and Royal connection.

Paul Burnett, Asset Manager for the Pantiles said: “The reopened Spring is a fantastic addition to The Pantiles and a great tourist attraction in the historic Bath Square”.

Samuel Danby, owner of Royal TW Water said: “We run a theatre company and have lots of excited actors ready to get involved along with original Dippers and Town Crier to proclaim that the Royal Spring is officially open once again.”
