The COVID-19 pandemic has made many reassess certain aspects of their lives. Moving forward, people want to be in control of how they handle adversity as a business owner instead of as an employee. In other words; they no longer want to rely on someone else to pay their bills.

With rising unemployment and an oversaturated job market – the idea packing in the tedious job applications and embarking on a new passion project has become a tangible ideal. When starting a new business, enthusiasm comes naturally – it’s finding direction that can often be a struggle.

While it may seem like an uncertain time to embark on a startup journey – new businesses has been thriving at our various assets, proving that there’s no time like the present to pursue your dream. In many ways, COVID-19 has hit the pause button – giving us the opportunity to reflect and to reimagine the future.

Government support

The UK Government has generally provided sufficient support to Britons throughout this economic uncertainty. Several new funding programmes have been implemented – these include loans, grants and rebates to help SMEs survive many of the losses associated with COVID-19.

With that in mind, the UK economy after the pandemic will have to rebound. Small businesses will be instrumental in helping the economic resurgence – Government officials realise this, and will provide funding to those looking to start or expand their venture. This will likely include Government grant schemes, loan programmes and tax break or tax credit rebates.

Start Up Loans are currently available, and are excellent in enabling you to to start or grow your business. Ranging from £500 to £25,000 – these are obtainable to anyone over the age of 18 that has – or plans to start – a UK-based business. Unlike a business loan, this is an unsecured personal loan.
